Today I learnt that most women poo during labour.
Time for a big night in: I’m putting on the Doves and reading some theology! Alright!

Ha.
sometimes I think the wrong bit was kept
That sounds like something my dad would say too.
which means ofcourse that most of us have been pooed on, not just by seagulls
i learnt pretty late that they slit women’s vaginas during delivery. i was appalled, but my mom said childbirth was so painful anyway that i wouldn’t care about getting my vagina slit.
hey yvonne it’s true that in some hospitals they still do routine or at least regular episiotomies but it’s not nessasary lots of times. so no reason to view it as inevitable!
yerk!
they don’t tend to do it so much now.
they just let them tear, and tears actually heal better than cuts.
Never did elective episiotomies in the 800 plus deliveries I did, only if tear starting or babe in trouble. A large tear CAN heal very badly indeed, certainly much worse than even a very large episiotomy. Late complications of a massive, badly healed tear include faecal incontinence, bladder and bowel prolapse, dyspareunia and recto-vaginal fistula. The trick is to prevent the tear with good antenatal education, perineal preparation and controlled delivery. Not yucky at all.
spot the doctor!
I’m with Hans, good preparation can go a long way to preventing pain and other problems as mentioned above. We spent a good amount of time preparing and in the end, Ange didn’t find the birth too painful at all. She says she has had period cramps worse than the birth!
i blame david for the fact i tore (even though it was the tinyist tear ever more like a paper cut. He was told to ease the head out slowly but she just shot out. Also giving birth in waters spose to help with not tearing and great for pain relief. Also alowing your body to strech out to the max, being upright (squating)(standing) etc, and being comfortable and relaxed
I did not have any pain at all in birth. I am of the belief that the pain in childbirth is associated with the fall of man in the Garden of Eden & Praise the Lord I am under the blood of Jesus. I believed for it and got it, The Lord answer’s the prayers of the faithful!
they(ever wondered who the hell they are ?) do say that a womans vagina stretches a metre before giving a cm but honestly Matt where do you get some of your thoughts ?
