Good and Evil
Reasonable estimates of the population of an average Death Star suggest that the Rebel Alliance probably killed a similar number of people when they destroyed the Death Star II as the Galatic Empire did in the destruction of Alderaan.

I always thought that may have been the case. Typical.
I am sure you have heard the theory that Star Wars is a parable of the battle between New Age philosophy and Christianity. (My wife Lana had this long discussion with some punter at a party at university and explained it to me once). Apparently, the Galactic Empire is Christianity with Father (the Emperor), Son (Darth Vader) and Holy Spirit (the dark side of the force) and the Great Commission (the emphasis on order and structure and sub-ordination of the universe) all being portrayed as the baddies which are destroyed by humanism (the Rebel Alliance). I don’t know how good the analogy is and whether it was the intention of George Lucas, and I have never seen anyone else posit this theory. Which leads to the question, what is the Death Star I and II? Could it be the Old and New Testament as the instruments of subjugation and destruction of an antithetical world view?
There is a very good reason why you have never seen anyone else post that theory.
