Che Guevara said:
As we enter a new society, work cannot be considered the dark side of life but rather the opposite. Our educational task in the coming years is to transform work into a moral necessity, an internal necessity. We have to rid ourselves of the erroneous view—appropriate only to a society based on exploitation—that work is a disagreeable human necessity. We have to bring out work’s other aspect, as a human necessity within each individual.

Hmm… Interesting. Che’s daughter is giving a talk at Melbourne Uni in a week or two, maybe she’s going to NZ aswell?
His diaries have been re-released because of the film; quite interestingly written and worth tracking down.
It really bugs me how Che has become an icon of the people (it is understandable to a degree), but a close look at his life shows a selfish, moody individual whose ideals and actions were just as damaging to the people as those of the oppressors he was trying to overthrow.
A Hollywood movie won’t show you that.
It wasnt the Hollywood movie that did this. It was the selling of teeshirts and other merchandise to a historically inept breed of dumb ass youth who bought it because they thought it made them look indie or alternative or whatever.
An even closer look shows that above his damaging demenour, he was a highly respected individual, especially amongst his close persuers. And like Rasputin, fearfully hard to kill.
