hello mat, just interested -why are you so interested in buddhism? it’s so trendy at the moment.

Buddhism has been trendy since Siddhartha Gotama died. Well after he turned 35 around 2500 years ago anyway.
Taoism (another LA trend), however, is a crock. One of those lame fads like ‘Metrosexuals’, or ‘Retrosexuals’ (being the direct opposite. But we already have a word for the opposite of ‘Metrosexual’. Its called ‘straight’.)
Support gay rights, not gay nights.
I didn’t know it is trendy. I have been interested since reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance a few years ago. I don’t know why. Why is anyone interested in anything? A quality, I suppose.

fair enough. just that it’s very trendy among people i know – a nice eastern philosophy to ‘zen’ up their lives. at least that’s what it often seems to me when they talk about it. it’s a fascinating philosophy, altho it saddens me to see its extremist prejudices whenever i go back home to sri lanka. are you going to come and visit the steenies now they’re in perth?
