I enjoyed it, though felt unsatisfied by the ending. Like Arthur C Clarke&#8217;s <em>Rama<\/em> series, it ends by revealing &#8216;the meaning of life&#8217;, which turns out to be trite and uninspiring. Reading it I realised that I read sci-fi looking for something completely different than what I look for in other novels. In regular fiction I want plot, interesting characters, perhaps a glimpse of a better way for me to live.
