Theme for May

by Matthew Bartlett @ 8:45 am

Soren Kierkegaard said:

Silence is the measure of the power to act; that is, a person never has more power to act than he has silence. Anyone can understand that to do something is far greater than to talk about doing it. If, therefore, a person has a plan or idea and is fully resolved to carry it out, he does not need to talk about it. What he talks about in connection with the proposed action is what he is most unsure of and most unwilling to do.

So no more posts for May, huh?

Would make one proud to be an intravert. (If such a thing exists)

By his silence, Matt clearly shows that he intends to keep on posting. Besides which, Kierkegaard never said that you cannot wax lyrical about things you have done and how good/bad they are AFTER you have done them.

It’s amusing that I didn’t notice the connexion between the quote and my posting or not posting until your comments.

Jono: Usually it’s spelt introvert. Perhaps the ceaseless internal scared muttering isn’t the silence K is talking about.
