Troy

by Matthew Bartlett @ 11:59 am

I saw the second half of Troy a couple of weeks ago on pirated DVD. I really liked it. The fight between Achilles and that other guy outside the city walls was choice. I even liked Achilles’ wee speech (“the gods envy us”) to his really pretty girlfriend.

    a) the other guy was Hector.
    b) his girlfriend was not pretty.

  2. Matthew says:

Ha. Yep Deb I thought you might take umbrage at that.

  3. Deborah says:

I thought she was pretty too, though. Too bad she was also boring and silly.

  4. People can bash Troy all they want, but I give it props mostly for that fight Matt. The solitary drumming throughout it was awesome. So intense. I wish the whole film were like that instead of mass CGI-army battles… alas. Peter Jackson has ruined war films for the next ten years…

  5. Deborah says:

Intense, solitary drumming? Have you seen Zulu?

  6. Deborah says:

    Yes! Classic!

Apparently Mr Jackson’s inspiration for Helm’s Deep battle too. It’s all about the tension.
